April C Cowan, OTR, OTD, CHT

April C. Cowan, OTR, OTD, CHT, is core faculty in the Master of Occupational Therapy and post-professional Occupational Therapy Doctorate programs at the University of Texas Medical Branch. She prides herself on being a life-long learner and is open to creative teaching methods. Her scholarly interests include the use of tests and measures to assess hand function, post-burn rehabilitation, and evidence-based practice. She is faculty advisor for the Nu Chapter of Pi Theta Epsilon, the national occupational therapy honor society and a member of the board of directors for both the American Hand Therapy Foundation (AHTF) and the Texas Society for Hand Therapy. April is the current Director of Grant Management for the AHTF. She maintains active professional memberships in the American Occupational Therapy Association, the Texas Occupational Therapy Association (TOTA), and the American Society of Hand Therapists. In addition to her teaching hours, service commitments, and scholarly responsibilities, she maintains active clinical practice in the hand therapy arena.
